It’s Friday night. Finally. It feels like one of those weeks where every day was a slog to get through. Only four more days till Friday. Three more days. Two more days. You keep looking at your phone to see if it truly is only Tuesday.
Then you wake up to the sound of your blaring alarm, and you realize, that yes, it is actually Friday. It may only be 10:00 am, but for me, I’m already picturing my perfect cocktail, ready as soon as I walk through the door. The glass is perfectly chilled, the gin and vermouth harmoniously mixed together, with an olive or twist, depending on the mood.

If you haven’t already guessed what my perfect cocktail is, it’s the martini.
The perfect blend of a London or herbaceous gin from California, mixed in with a delicious local vermouth. Most importantly, it is very cold, very dry, hence the name of this blog.
It’s inspired by years of my husband and I perfecting the ultimate martini. Playing with the ratio of gin to vermouth with how much ice to mix it with to ensure the right formula.
When we go out to dinner, we always order our martinis very cold, and very dry. Just how we believe it should be.
So welcome to Very Cold, Very Dry, a blog about all things martinis. I’ll talk about my favorite gins, vermouths, the perfect bleu cheese olive, which restaurants make the best martinis, the perfect martini recipe, special memories shared over martinis, and many more.
So come along for the ride. But before you do, make sure your martini is ready, prepared to your pleasure.
Cheers!
Lindsay
