Welcome to Martini Fridays!

Phew! We made it to my favorite day of the week, FRIDAY! Hope you all are doing well and taking a well-deserved rest as we head into the weekend.

Welcome to our new weekly series, Martini Fridays! Here we’ll feature what we’re loving this week, such as: the martini we’re making tonight (with a recipe!), our favorite martini-loving icon of the week, what’s on our playlist, new martini bars we’ve discovered and love, and so much more! So sit back, get that martini shaken (or stirred), and enjoy reading!

On the playlist tonight: “Nothing But the Best” by Frank Sinatra. The second line in the lyrics is “I like a martini, and third on the glass”. Clearly, he loved martinis, as evidenced by how he specifically liked to order them.

Tonight’s martini:
Vodka: Froggy B
Vermouth: Aglaea Vermouth Dry
Garnish: Lemon Peel

Recipe:
You’ll need:
A scale (or measuring cup)
Ice
Cocktail stirrer
Cocktail Mixing Glass
Cocktail Strainer
Chilled martini glass
Lemon Peel
100 ml of Froggy B Vodka
2 dashes of Aglaea Vermouth (or other dry vermouth if you don’t have this brand)

Directions:

Put a martini glass in the freezer, ideally at least 30 mins prior to drinking. If you forget, fill it with ice and set it aside until ready.

Peel a nice, thick peel off a lemon. Set aside.

(If using a measuring cup, skip to the part where it says, “Next, pour and measure..” in the next paragraph)

Place the empty cocktail mixing glass on top of the scale. Make sure the scale is on the “tare” setting, which means it’ll measure and weigh the liquid contents only, not the glass container. Next, pour and measure out 100 ml of the vodka. Add a couple dashes of vermouth. Fill the container with ice until it covers the martini mixture. Stir slowly for at least 30 seconds, or until you feel the outside glass container get cold.

Top the glass container with the strainer. Take the martini glass out of the freezer of discard the ice if you filled it. Strain the martini mixture into the glass. Take the lemon peel, slide it along the edge of the martini glass, twist to let the oils expel into the glass and drop it in. Enjoy!

Martini icon(s) of the Week:

Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby in High Society (1956). Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra AND Grace Kelly?! ICONS! I wish we all still dressed up in tuxedos while drinking martinis.

Laugh of the week:

Hope you enjoyed reading! Have a great Friday!

We’re Lindsay and Eric!

We believe there is nothing better than the first sip of a very cold, very dry martini. Choose your gin, mix in your vermouth, garnish with an olive, twist (or both!), and let’s discuss the best cocktail in the world.
